About Cassian

Born in Sydney, Australia, Cassian, real name Cassian Stewart-Kasimba, has built a multifaceted career as a DJ, producer, and mixing engineer, combining musical sensitivity with a detailed understanding of electronic production. After learning piano and guitar and playing in bands during his school years, he turned toward dance music, developing a sound that connects melodic house, techno, and emotionally focused songwriting. His 2020 debut album, Laps, released through RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue Records, brought together years of studio development and collaborations with vocalists including Tora, Gabrielle Current, and Thandi Phoenix. His parallel work with RÜFÜS DU SOL earned Grammy recognition, including a win for his contribution to Alive, which received Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the 2022 awards, alongside nominations associated with Underwater and On My Knees. As a recording artist, Cassian has continued to expand his catalog through releases on Afterlife, Rose Avenue, and Odd One Out, with tracks including Aran, Dun Dun, and Great Southern Land with Icehouse. Later releases include Where I’m From with SCRIPT and Belladonna and A Feeling I Miss with Matt Ryder. With a career connecting acclaimed studio work and a growing live presence, Cassian brings both technical precision and emotional depth to contemporary melodic electronic music.
